Do you know what I love about Goodreads? I find out about great authors that I otherwise might not hear about. Our library doesn't have any books by Maggie Osborne and none of my sisters have read/recommended her so I didn't hear about her. This book was sweet, moving, and heartwarming. I know that sounds trite its just my reaction. The writing reminded me very much of something Cheryl St. John would write or Jo Goodman. I enjoyed the aspect of this story that the heroine was not a great beauty, she was in the habit of saying 'ain't' and she cussed as well as any man. The development of her character and that of Max and the rest of the McCord family was done with a skilled hand. Now I have to see if I can find any more of her books!
